Design

The Logitech G930 headset is predominantly black with few red accents in the circumaural cups; the design and padding of the cups make them comfortable. The controls – power button, volume wheel, three customizable buttons, Mic Mute button and the surround sound switch – are located behind the left ear cup.

We like the distinct volume wheel instead of volume buttons because it reduces the chance of accidentally pushing the wrong button instead. However, the surround sound switch and power switch are too close to each other, so the chances of accidentally hitting the wrong button are high in this case.

The MicroUSB charging port is also located on the underside of the left ear cup. The flip-down microphone pivots up and down and is placed on the left ear cup. It has a light indicator that turns red when the mic is on mute.

The transmitter of the Logitech G930 is a black slim and rectangular USB device, which can be plugged into USB port including the port of the headset’s hub that comes with the G930. In keeping with the black theme, the hub is also black and circular with the USB port in the center top. It has USB and MicroUSB cables, which allows you to plug the transmitter in the hub’s port to charge the headset or use it was a wired headset.

Built Quality

Built Quality

When compared to similar headsets within the same price range, namely G533 and G433, the Logitech G930 is significantly better. Its sturdy yet flexible metal frame supported headband, and densely padded durable yet comfortable ear cups allow it to withstand falls and bumps.

However, the design is slightly bulky, although it is made primarily out of plastic which also gives it a cheap look and feel. During our testing, we suspect that the ear cup hinges and the flip-down mic are the part that will most likely be damaged first with repeated use.

As far as stability is concerned, the headset is suitable activities that do not involve too much moving around. Activities such as running or exercising because they will most likely fall off your head after a short period. However, if you are in a stationary position for long time periods, then you will not have any stability issues while gaming.

Sound And Mic Quality

The actual test begins and concludes with the audio and microphone quality. Before diving into my audio experience, I wanted to discuss the microphone briefly. The microphone has noise cancellation that functions very well, and We’ve never had a problem with other people hearing while speaking when playing any game.

The microphone comes out and could be bent for improved positioning.

One really cool element is that you can stretch the microphone up and out of the way. The microphone will automatically mute whenever you do this because it will not detect any sound. This is useful in situations where you need to take a break during a multiplayer game but don’t want to abandon it. When you leave, the microphone turns off, and people on the other end will not hear any noise in the background in your home.

Its noise filter performed really well, and all ambient noise was effectively removed. Unfortunately, the software is very aggressive, and thus your speech can suffer from clipping. Communications become unintelligible when the last half of your previous word is cut off. It didn’t happen all that often, but it was worth noting, given that the microphone is otherwise excellent.

The sound clarity is excellent. When playing games like Counter-Strike or Thief, where sound is an integral part of understanding your virtual world, you’ll be exposed to a whole new level of realism. The 7.1 surround sound catches even subtle in-game noises as well as sound effects to immerse the user in the game – impressive, given there are no wires.

The G930 performed admirably in every genre of music tried. If the headset has one flaw, it is its sound. The bass is too forward and overpowering when using the preset settings. The sound is also a little muddy, and more audiophile-class headphones like the HD555s easily outperform it. This problem is readily solved by reducing the bass levels. You can reduce the bass without losing its definition.

The G930s will disappoint fans that love the powerful bass sound. The virtual 7.1 audio option is a pleasant bonus. While it only enhances certain types of audio, it can give depth to an otherwise flat sound stage while destroying the sharpness of other kinds of sound, such as classical music.

When it came to movies, the Logitech G35’s surround sound option was just as excellent. The older G35 and the newer G930 headsets are perfect options for watching late-night movies without disturbing others. With wireless, you can relax in your easy chair 15 feet away from your HTPC, watch your favorite movie on your 65-inch HDTV, and enjoy the immersive sound.

There was no noticeable auditory lag. Because the headphones have a range of 40 feet, We were able to walk around the workplace and house freely. Going down or up a level did cause some connectivity problems, but that is to be anticipated, given the thick walls alongside the range.

The sound clarity is good whether you’re playing a game or listening to Spotify or iTunes. Without question, you should not use gaming headphones for fundamental music or movie listening, but the G930 does the job in that regard.

Gaming Performance

One of the best qualities of the G930 in our point of view is its low latency and excellent performance as a gaming headphone. The headset offers clear sound and ok bass for most games that were tested the G930 with, although the performance wasn’t excellent across the board in all the games we test this headset with.

In popular games like Assassin’s Creed Unity performance left something to be desired. However, the mic continued to perform great in all games. Although not everyone will appreciate the voice modulation options, you have some fun with it by using voice avatars. However, we believe that serious gamers will find voice modulation gimmicky and sub-par.

On the other hand, the music quality isn’t good at all. If you are a serious music listener and care greatly about the quality of music then these headphones will disappoint you. The G930 aren’t designed for music listening, we found the sound flat and lacking finesse. If you are picky about quality then these headphones will be mostly fine.

Stability

As far as our stability testing is concerned, the Logitech G930 fared well and were tight enough with a good grip for most stable conditions, especially if you are going to be sitting in front of the gaming PC or TV without much movement. They are also good for walking around in. However, they won’t be stable for running or exercising because they are not designed for sports use.

Software

Software

When it comes to software, Logitech does not disappoint its users. If you a regular gamer then you would most probably be familiar with Logitech Gaming Software. The best thing about the Logitech software is that it allows you to control all of your Logitech gaming peripheral devices from a single unit.

Apart from the easy control feature, the Logitech G930 handset’s software also enables you to make custom sound profiles depending on the game that you are playing.

Custom sound profiles enhance the overall gaming experience, and you can easily assign your customer profiles to the headset’s G1, G2 and G3 buttons. However, G930 lacks preset sound profiles, so you may have a tough time if you are not a pro at mixing sounds.

The headset installs easily, and it uses a simple yet efficient user interface that significantly enhances the user interface. All-in-all Logitech Gaming Software promises a frustration-free user experience.

Comfort

Comfort

Long-wear comfort is one of the most important aspects of a good gaming headset. All other features go down the drain if your headset does not offer optimum comfort during long-term gaming sessions.

Similar to Logitech G230 and G430, the G930 also offers exceptional ear and head comfort. The headset has a generous amount of padding that ensures long wear time without any discomfort.

Battery Life and Connectivity

Battery Life and Connectivity

The fact that Logitech headset G930 functions while charging through USB cable seals the deal for us. We all forget to charge our devices quite often, so there is nothing is more frustrating than devices that do not function while they are charging.

Logitech has a powerful battery with up to 10 hours of battery backup. Some gamers might find the battery backup a little underwhelming, but since the headset fully functions, it makes up to the limited 10-hour battery backup. Charging the headset is also hassle-free as the dongle’s extension stand also performs as a charging station.

When it comes to connectivity, Logitech is compatible with Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8USB port. If we talk about wireless connectivity and range, then you will surely be impressed with its 40m range and superior performance. We have not yet experienced any lag, inconsistency, hiss, or disconnection issues.

The overall battery performance and wireless connectivity are at par with more pricy and popular gaming headsets. However, if you regularly engage in gaming marathons, Logitech G930 headset may not perform as well as Logitech’s wired models.

Why Go For The Logitech G930 Headset?

For the longest time, the concept of wireless headsets has been a fantasy that did not translate well into reality until recently. Previously, wireless headphones have struggled to match the sound quality of wired headphones; getting rid of the wires always meant that you had to sacrifice the listening experience.

However, fortunately, many headsets have hit the market that offer excellent sound and true wireless functionality. The Logitech model we have reviewed today brings the best of both worlds – great wired and wireless performance. Whether it’s music or gaming, the 7.1 Dolby Surround Sound packs a delightful punch; although there is some distortion, you can easily toggle the mode through the headset-mounted slider.

Besides the Dolby setting button, the headsets have three customizable buttons, a power switch, a dial control for volume, and a mute button for the mic. In terms of overall performance, these headsets perform well with a punchy sound and good wireless technology, but it lacks in some areas, especially the design of the ear cups.

Unless you are using these headphones in cold weather, you will be susceptible to overheating your ears only after 30 minutes of use. If these are your primary headphones for listening to music and long gaming sessions, this can be a problem.

The other issue with the design of these headphones is that they run tight; it’s not that we have exceptionally large heads, but we felt that even on our average-sized heads, these headsets were rather tight and uncomfortable. This is unfortunate because you don’t want headphones that start hurting after a short period of use.

Despite its shortcomings, it is difficult to completely write off these headphones because the sound and wireless technology are solid. However, we suggest that you try the G930 before you buy; make sure that you buy yours from a place that offers a return policy if you face the same design issues we encountered.

Verdict

It all comes down to this single question: “Should you buy the Logitech G930 or not?” Well, if we compare this headset to its competitors, then the answer would be – YES! You should most definitely consider Logitech G930!

If you need an affordable gaming headset that offers impressive specs, excellent built quality, and unparalleled overall performance – then Logitech G930 is the perfect choice for you.

Like other peripherals and accessories, headsets are somewhat tricky to evaluate—subjectivity tends to rule, and headsets are filled with many nuances subject to preference. That said, the Logitech G930 is a tremendous value-oriented headset that is comfortable, sounds good, offers acceptable build quality, and has a pleasant software experience.

Logitech G930 most definitely outperforms all of its competitor heads both of the similar and higher price range.
